2.  Leave your Original Identification in your room.
As a precautiinary measure, tourist are advised not to carry their original identification documents.  You can carry a copy of your passport and a copy of any other document you feel important.

3:  Use the small safe in your hotel room or apartment.

Leave your expensive jewely and Rolex watch at home.  Never pull out a roll of money to pay for something.  Do not advertise you have a lot of money!

4:  Call a Taxi from your Medellin hotel room or ask the front desk to call one for you.

The dispacher with give you the taxi number and how many minutes for the cab to arrive.  Write down the number and compare it to the taxi that arrives.  Remember, some taxis listen on the open radio frequency and try and arrive before the real taxi arrives.  Make sure you take the right taxi!

5:  Use ATM's during daylight hours and one with a secure surrounding.

6:  Check your hotel and restaurant bill for errors and mistakes.

7:  Travel with a friend or in a group.

8:  Be cautious when people ask you for help or assistance.

9:  Stay away from the Barrios at night.

10:  Always give the right-of-way to Colombians.  After all, its their Country.

Finally:  As a pedestrian you DO NOT have the right of way, so be careful!
